Energy
Energy is a subject dear to my heart as I consider myself a philosopher of sorts. I think the technologies that we use can all be updated and used in better ways. Like building computers out of recyclable parts that are not obsolete after 4 years, and making the right choices of cars and transportation that we use, thinking of ways to use the infrastructure that is already present in most communities in more efficient ways. I also see that most things have a half life built in. Meaning we are still in a technology infancy, but this works both ways over the past 150 years, and more depending on your thought of agricultural cultures compare to hunting gathering cultures. We have done everything humanly possible to destroy the life giving properties of the earth that naturally with out our help rebuilds it self. Though just now have started to exponentially use the technology this destruction has made possible to reverse some of the negative effects of our conquest of nature.
Witness it your self. Take a ice in Alaska witch will not be there in 100 years from now no matter what we do about it. Sorry for the pessimistic outlook in my last statement and my next too. That it will only be after catastrophic human decline that it will return. The planet will always be here and humans too just not in the capacity that we are used too. This all will take longer than I think most people realize, but I think of it in terms of geological time that spans billions of years not hundreds and maybe if the knowledge of our human sub species mistakes is not lost so future generations can get it right.
I could go on forever about these things, and other topics such as this. I have just recently opened my eyes to what we have on our plate, and can only put in my 2 cents but at least its worth 2 cents.

I don't think these changes to civilization will necessarily take as long as you think...
Lets hope there is somthing that can change the direction we are heading.
